Oasis Workflow Pro v8.4 – Major Update – Security And Other Fixes

This week we released maintenance updates for Oasis Workflow Pro.

We ran CodeSniffer and Linter tools with WordPress coding standard ruleset to scan PHP, Javascript and CSS for any potential vulnerabilities. We did another round of manual review of the codebase.

We took those findings and worked through the various issues. This new version v8.4 has a lot of security fixes along with other notable enhancements. This is a major update and we strongly recommend to use your staging/test server to verify the updates before installing it on your live site.

Here is the list of changes added to v8.4:

  • Security Fix – Fixed output escaping issue where some of the strings were not properly escaped.
  • REST API Security – Added capability security to publicly accessible API endpoints.
  • PHP to JS Escaping – Javascript variables printed and defined through PHP variables were properly sanitized and escaped.
  • Unprepared SQL Queries – Fixed instances of SQL queries that were not properly escaped and prepared.
  • Fixed issue with Priority field not getting set from previous step in Gutenberg Editor.
  • Fixed issue with Teams drop down, not showing all team users.

Oasis Workflow Pro v7.9 – Security And Other Notable Fixes

This week we released maintenance updates for Oasis Workflow Pro. The new version v7.9 has some security fixes along with other notable enhancements.

Here is the list of changes added to v7.9:

  • Security Fix – Sanitized workflow comments to disallow certain tags.
  • UI Experience – Hide the Publish button, until the Submit to Workflow button is visible.
  • Fixed permalink issue for revision post without suffix/prefix.
  • Fixed overlap of External User Id with WP User Id.
  • Added a new hook to allow hide/show of “Submit to Workflow” based on post attributes.

Elementor Integration and other updates

With the release of Oasis Workflow Pro v7.3, we are excited to announce a direct integration with Elementor Page builder plugin.

Elementor is one of the most popular page builder plugins and with this release, the users of Oasis Workflow Pro will be able to “Submit to Workflow” and “Sign off” their tasks from inside Elementor UI.

  • Added config to toggle workflow comments to be mandatory. By default the comments will not be required.
  • Fixed some of the issues with language files.

Oasis Workflow Pro v7.2 Released

I want to give a huge shoutout to all the nurses, doctors, grocery clerks, public administrators and anyone else that’s putting their lives at risk to serve their communities.

The past few weeks we have been working through several updates to our core plugin.

Here are some notable updates with the latest version.

Support for External (non-WordPress) Users

A lot of our plugin clients have been asking for a way to send notifications to external non-wordpress users.

You can now add these External users via Workflows -> Settings, External Users tab. These users will be available under Workflows -> Settings, Email tab.

We also added an option to use CC and BCC for the notification emails.

Enhanced Dashboard Widget and Inbox Page

Users will now be able to see the count of unclaimed tasks in the dashboard widget and on the Inbox page.

Other notable updates and fixes:
  • Added capability check to import/export functionality for additional security.
  • Allow meta fields to be edited for Gutenberg Editor.
  • Fixed issue with Jetpack Publicize not getting invoked when task is signed off from the post edit page.
  • Fixed potential issue with update_option not sanitizing certain input values.
  • Fixed errors while copying revision post meta values to original post.

The past few weeks have been immensely busy – working through several updates to our core plugin and it’s various add-ons.

We’re thrilled to announce the release of Oasis Workflow Pro v6.7 and notable changes to Editorial Comments Add-on, Editorial Checklist and ACF Compare Add-on.

Enhancements to Oasis Workflow Pro

Users will automatically get redirected either to the post list page or to the inbox page after they sign off the task. This functionality was available with the Classic Editor, but was not working in Gutenberg. With v6.7, we are able to bring back the same functionality.

We added loaders wherever the front end is interacting with a backend API. This will allow users to see something is loading and ideally reduce mental waiting time.

Now you can reassign a task from within the Oasis Workflow Gutenberg sidebar.

We have enhanced editorial comments by allowing users to view and edit comments from within the Oasis Workflow Sidebar.

  • Abort post from workflow automatically if user published the post midway of workflow process.
  • Fixed undefined URLSearchParams in IE.
  • For Editorial Comments Add-on:  Fixed multiple display of contextual comments in Editorial Comments metabox.
  • For Editorial Checklist Add-on:  Made letter count to consider space and special characters.
  • For ACF Compare Add-on:  Added support to compare ACF Component Fields.

Oasis Workflow compatibility with WordPress 5.0 (Gutenberg Editor)

For the past few months we were diligently working on making Oasis Workflow compatible with the new WordPress editor (also known as Gutenberg).

We tried out a few options, but finally decided to go with the sidebar editor to support Oasis Workflow functions.

It’s been a fantastic journey from figuring out how Gutenberg works, how to define our React Components and finally how to package everything.

We are pleased with the final outcome and we hope you, as a user of Oasis Workflow plugin will feel the same. We have released v6.0 of Oasis Workflow Pro that is now compatible with Gutenberg editor and has all the cool features that makes Oasis Workflow as one of the best editorial workflow plugins in WordPress community.

What about the add-ons?
Except for Editorial Comments, Teams and Editorial Checklist, all other add-ons are already compatible with Gutenberg Editor. We are working on making the above add-ons compatible with Gutenberg as well. We plan to release updates to these add-ons in about 2 to 3 weeks.

We’re raising prices from April 11th

We’re raising the price of our Oasis Workflow plugin and add-on plans.

Why are we raising prices?

To more accurately reflect the value users get from Oasis Workflow Editorial Solution and to make room for the other amazing features coming your way, we will be increasing our prices from April 11th 2021.

We added a lot of features in the past few years to make Oasis Workflow an efficient and configurable editorial workflow solution for WordPress. Oasis Workflow helps to make the publishing process transparent and easy, while allowing the bloggers get back to doing what they are best at – creating content.

Not to mention, we are still the most affordable solution in the market while we continue to develop evolutionary building blocks, configurable workflow processes and product, which will enable editorial review processes to become an integral part of WordPress.

The price change WILL NOT affect existing customers.

Our current paid customers will be grand-fathered in to the existing plans. That means, the renewal pricing will remain the same. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years.
